ICZN – ELECTION OF NEW COMMISSIONERS

INTERNATIONAL COMMISSION ON ZOOLOGICAL NOMENCLATURE

SECTION OF ZOOLOGICAL NOMENCLATURE

ELECTION OF NEW COMMISSIONERS – SECRET BALLOT

The International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature is pleased to announce that voting for new Commissioners will be held via an online voting platform.

Under Article 4.5 of the ICZN Constitution, and Article 3 of the ICZN By-Laws, zoologists are invited to register and vote for five new Commissioners to represent the zoological community on the International Commission on Zoological Nomenclature.

The vote will take place under the auspices of the 23rd International Congress of Zoology, which will be held as a virtual congress on 22‒24 November 2021. This conference is officially sanctioned by the International Union for Biological Sciences, which is the body that oversees the activities of the ICZN.

Although past ballots for new Commissioners have been conducted in-person at IUBS sanctioned conferences, the virtual platform allows for much higher engagement and participation from the zoological community.

Voting will be open 22‒30 November 2021, and close at 11:59 pm (UTC), Tuesday 30 November 2021.

Nominations for new Commissioners were announced by the ICZN on 30 April 2019, and the slate of nominees consists of 10 candidates, see here for more information https://www.iczn.org/about-the-iczn/nominees/.
